What to Expect When Voting

• Verify your voter registration.
• Know what should be on your ballot. Using your precinct information from the link above you will be able to determine the contests that will appear on your ballot.
• Review a sample ballot. (Linked when becomes available.) The sample ballot will indicate the contests that will appear countywide, and those that are precinct specific. Look under each contest for the listing of applicable precincts.
• Research the candidates and issues. The Warren County Clerk’s Office is committed to administering fair, impartial elections and cannot provide information regarding candidates’ qualifications, positions, or endorsements. It is each voter’s responsibility to research the candidates and any public questions or constitutional amendments that may appear on the ballot before voting.
• Know your Voting Options.

Warren County utilizes countywide vote centers, allowing registered voters to cast their ballot at any open vote center during Early Voting or on Election Day.

While your assigned precinct determines the ballot you receive, it does not limit where you can vote. Visit our Polling Locations page for a complete list of vote centers, interactive maps, parking information, and any special instructions for each location.

The process:

• Present required identification.
• Elections clerk will verify your registration using an electronic Pollbook (iPad).
• You’ll confirm that your name, address, date of birth are correct.
• The elections clerk will print a slip with your information that you will take to a ballot judge.

What if your name or address has changed:

• If you have moved within Warren County or your name has changed, you will be directed to Voter Services before voting. There, you will complete an Oath of Voter form and complete a new voter registration card.After your information has been updated, the Voter Services election officer will check you into the electronic pollbook using a supplemental roster and print a poll slip reflecting your updated precinct information. You will then present the poll slip to the check-in table to receive the correct ballot for your current address.

The ballot judge will print your ballot using the Print-on-Demand device by scanning the poll slip you received from the elections clerk. Before handing you the ballot, the ballot judge will verify that the ballot style matches the information on your poll slip to ensure you receive the correct ballot.

Helpful Reminders:

• Your ballot is unique to your precinct.
• It is possible for your ballot to be two-sided. Review both sides of the ballot.
• If you believe a contest is missing from your ballot, do not cast your ballot. Instead, visit Voter Services immediately so an election officer can review your voter registration, assigned districts, and ballot style to ensure you receive the correct ballot before voting.

Polling booths are provided for you to mark your ballot in secret. Once you receive your ballot, you may not discuss candidates, ballot questions, or your voting choices with other voters—including members of your own household—in the voting booth area. If you have questions or need assistance, ask an election officer for help.

• Completely fill in each box beside your choice using blue or black ink.
• Do NOT circle your choice. The scanner cannot read a circled box and the vote cannot be counted.
• Vote only for the number of candidates or choices indicated for each contest (for example, “Vote for One” or “Vote for Two”).
• If you are voting for a write-in candidate (General Elections only), completely fill in the box next to the write-in line, then neatly write the name of the qualified write-in candidate in the space provided.
• Review your selections carefully before casting your ballot.
• If you make a mistake, do not attempt to erase, cross out, or correct your ballot. Instead, take it to Voter Services to spoil your ballot and receive a replacement. Kentucky law allows a voter to spoil and replace a ballot up to two (2) times.
• Before casting your ballot, make sure it contains all of the contests you expected to see. If you have any questions about your ballot or believe something is missing, visit Voter Services before inserting your ballot into the scanner.
• Once your ballot has been cast, your vote is final and cannot be changed or replaced.

Voter Assistance

Accessible voting equipment is available at every voting location to help voters with hearing or visual impairments cast their ballot independently.

Voters who need assistance due to a language barrier, reading difficulty, disability, or other reason may bring a person of their choice to assist them. Before assistance is provided, the voter and the person assisting must complete a Voter Assistance Form.

If a voter does not bring someone to assist them, two election officers representing different political parties may provide assistance after the required Voter Assistance Form has been completed. One election officer will read the ballot choices exactly as they appear, and the other will mark the voter’s selections as directed by the voter.

Election officers may explain the voting process and procedures, but they cannot:

• Recommend or discourage any candidate, political party, or ballot measure.
• Explain or interpret the meaning of any candidate, office, or ballot question.
• Influence a voter’s decisions in any way.

Their role is limited to reading the ballot choices exactly as they appear and assisting the voter in casting the ballot according to the voter’s instructions.

Casting your ballot:

• Insert your ballot into the ballot scanner. The scanner will accept your ballot facing either up or down.
• Wait for the scanner to confirm that your ballot has been successfully cast.
• If the scanner detects an overvote (voting for more candidates than allowed in a contest), you will have the option to receive a replacement ballot and correct the error. If you choose not to make changes, you may select “Cast Ballot As Is.”
• You may choose to leave any contest blank. Blank contests do not prevent your ballot from being cast.
• After your ballot has been accepted, receive your “I Voted” sticker and exit the polling place.

Remember: Once your ballot has been accepted by the scanner, your vote is final and cannot be changed.

Election officers cannot discuss election results or provide vote totals. Results from absentee voting, Early Voting, and Election Day voting are not released until after the polls close at 6:00 p.m. on Election Day.

✔ Polls are open 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. during Early Voting & 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m on Election Day.
✔ Anyone in line by 6:00 p.m. on Election Night may vote.
✔ Bring an acceptable ID.
✔ Cell phones are permitted, but restrictions apply.
✔ Campaigning is prohibited within the 100 ft electioneering boundary.
✔ Service animals are welcome.
✔ Be respectful of other voters and election workers.
