Voter Identification

Kentucky voters must show proof of identification when voting in-person.

Voters have two options when showing identification at the polling location.

Option 1:

Show a Photo ID

You can vote by showing a photo ID that includes your name and is issued by one of the following:

  • Kentucky State Government
  • Federal Government
  • Military, Merchant Marines, or KY National Guard
  • A U.S. college of university (public or private)
  • A city or county government in Kentucky

**Note: High school ID is not an acceptable form of identification**

Option 2:

If you don’t have one of the photo IDs above, you can still vote by filling out an affidavit available at the polling location AND

Show (1) ONE of the following documents:

Out-of-state driver’s license
SBE approved county ID card
Any ID with Voter’s name & photo
