Important: All filing forms were updated in June 2025 to reflect changes in state law. Previous versions of the filing paperwork will not be accepted.
Before filing, please review the following requirements:
Complete all applicable sections of the online fillable filing form.
If notarization is required, all required signatures must be acknowledged by a Notary Public, and the notary’s commission number and expiration date must be included. The Clerk’s office cannot notarize these forms.
Filing fee checks should be made payable to the Warren County Clerk’s Office.
Candidates may file in person or by mail. Filing documents must be received by the applicable filing deadline.

The Clerk’s Office does not verify a candidate’s:
Qualifications for office
Party affiliation
Witness signatures
Residency requirements
Any other information contained within the filing documents
It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure all information contained in the filing documents is accurate and complete.
Please note: All candidate filing documents are subject to Kentucky Open Records laws.
Every candidate, including those filing for an exemption, must electronically file a Statement of Spending Intent and Appointment of Campaign Treasurer (KREF 001).
Candidates must create an eFiling account through the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance (KREF).

Candidates who wish to begin campaign activities before the official filing period may file a Letter of Intent with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance.
In accordance with KRS 65.003, Warren County and each incorporated city within the county have adopted ethics ordinances requiring certain candidates to file a Financial Interest Statement.
Candidates for the following offices are required to file this statement within twenty-one (21) days after submitting their filing paperwork:

Potential candidates can find the required paperwork and requirements for filing for office through the Secretary of State’s Office. Paper copies of filing paperwork can also be obtained by visiting the Warren County Clerk’s Office. Candidates for state and federal offices will file their paperwork with the Secretary of State. Candidates for local office will file their paperwork with the Warren County Clerk.
Candidates are required to file all campaign finance paperwork and reports with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance (KREF). Within five (5) days of filing for office, every candidate must file a Statement of Financial Intent with KREF, regardless of whether they intend to raise or spend campaign funds.

Qualified candidates, political parties, and committees which advocate for or against an amendment or public question are eligible to request voter information. Every request must be submitted to the State Board of Elections on the SBE 84 Form.
